Grant Information & Programs

The Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund is a state fund enacted into law in 1998 and financed entirely by Massachusetts employers. Its purpose is to provide resources to Massachusetts businesses and workers to train current and newly hired employees.

General Program

The Massachusetts General Grant Program is for any size company training employees in job-related skills through a training program that demonstrates the effect of job retention/ progression, skill improvement, productivity growth and increase in revenue. MA General Program Grant Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year. In most cases, applicants are notified of training grant application outcomes within 60 days from grant submission of a complete application. Currently training grant funds awarded can reach $250,000 and must be used within a 24-month period.

Hiring Incentive Training Grant Program (HITGP)

HITGP assists Massachusetts companies in paying for training for new employees that meet certain criteria: Massachusetts residents who have been unemployed for 6 months or more; the period of unemployment is waived for Veterans (DD214 is required). The training grant allocates up to $2,000 per employee or up to $30,000 a year per company. New Applications for this program were frozen on November 30, 2014 and therefore no new applications for this program are being accepted. We will advise if this changes.
